About Me
I grew up in Nashville, TN, and started playing guitar as a teenager in the mid-90's. I played around town and recorded with local bands and artists into the early 2000's, while attending Middle Tennessee State University. I graduated with a degree in Music Business and Marketing in 2003.
After college, I continued recording and playing locally. In 2005, some friends and I started a band called Bang Bang Bang, and I began playing rhythm guitar and singing background vocals. In 2006, we signed a record deal with Warner Bros Records and I switched to bass. We soon after changed our name to American Bang, toured extensively across the US, released a self-titled album produced by legendary producer Bob Rock, and got dropped in 2010.
In 2011, we regrouped as The Cadillac Black and I moved from bass to lap steel, inventing a unique method of playing simultaneous bass and rhythm guitar parts with the help of an octave splitter. In 2013, we changed our name to The Cadillac Three and signed a record deal with Big Machine Label Group. Since then we have released five full length albums, and continue to tour regularly throughout the US, UK, and Europe.
In 2019, I started teaching guitar as a volunteer at W.O. Smith Music School in Nashville, discovering a passion for music instruction. That led me to start giving one-on-one lessons online in the spring of 2020 and revamp this website accordingly.
I am also available for remote session work on electric and acoustic guitar, bass, lap steel, pedal steel, dobro, and ganjo. Visit the contact or session work page for inquiries.
I endorse Orange Amplifiers and Jim Dunlop picks, strings, pedals and accessories.
I live in Smyrna, TN with my beautiful and artistic wife Lindsey, and our cats Boo, Bernie (pictured above), and Fi Fi.
